Retractable Baby Gates
The retractable baby gate is a wonderful safety gate to have in the home, although it is not as well-known as some of the others. The retractable baby gate can be used anywhere in the house. One of the best features is the fact that it can be rolled up and stored away with relative ease. It can remain out of site when it is not being used to keep your baby safe.
This retractable baby gate is sometimes called a roller gate because of the way it rolls up vertically, sort of like a window shade. You can use this gate in narrow spaces as well as large doorways due to its flexibility. However, because of its flexibility, it is not recommended that it be used at the top of staircases. Unfortunately, many of the retractable baby gates are not strong enough to stop a baby with a running start from falling down the stairs. They’re made with a mesh material that is not known for its strength. If you’re looking for a baby gate to stop your baby from falling down the stairs, you may want to look at getting one that’s made of wood, heavy duty plastic, or metal.
Most gates would fit any doorway even though they don’t all have the same dimensions. However, most measurements range from 42 to 72 inches wide and 30 to 34 inches in length. Because of the way the gate retracts like a shade, it is great for fitting doorways that have odd measurements or doorways at a funny angle.
It is also great for small spaces. Many gates out there requires you to swing or move the gate to get through, however, the retractable baby gate rolls up and out of the way and it demands no extra room to open or close.
Perhaps the most revealing feature of the retractable baby gate is the fact that when rolled up and out of the way, it is unnoticeable. This is a great feature for families that don’t want their homes to look as if it had been taken over by the baby’s from outer space. It can also roll up and be put away easily if you’re going to entertain guests. An additional benefit is the fact that when not in use it can be stored out of sight in a closet, behind furniture or just leaned against the wall. Therefore, it does not take up too much space in your home when it is not in use, which I am sure is a benefit for all in the house.
The only downside I see in having a retractable baby gate is the fact that it does take some time to assemble and you will require the use of tools. You will have to mount brackets for the gate to work properly, but it will be worth it in the end.
